Natural History Institute: Student Volunteer Meeting

With free chips & salsa. The informational session and sign-up will be followed by a documentary screening (title TBA) for attendees of the meeting.
What’s happening this semester at the Institute?:
-Grand Opening Weekend, Nov. 8-10
-Two guest speakers
-Planning and preparing for our biological and digital specimens, and archival print media
-All day hike to a record-holding, ancient Alligator Juniper
-Open Gallery hours, every Thursday and Friday from 1-5pm
We Need Your Help:
-Two exhibit prep work parties at Sam Hill, prior to the Grand Opening
-Event photographers for Grand Opening
-Support crew for the Nature Walk and Butte Creek Restoration
-Food gurus for Grand Opening events (menu planning, donation retrieval, food prep & serving)
-Possibly 1-2 volunteers can help scout the hike to the ancient juniper
-Help promote our speakers and events by hanging fliers
-Help set up and break down chairs and tables for the events in our gallery
-“As needed” help in the collections and research rooms
-Being an important part of the Natural History Institute
-Inside knowledge, access, and first dibs about new opportunities at the Institute
-Volunteering may lead to senior project, independent study, and internship opportunities
-Leftover snacks from events always go to volunteers
-End of semester, VIV (Very Important Volunteer) celebration
-Time spent with people who share a common interest
-Volunteering looks good on the resume
-Helping bring natural history programming to the campus and our community
