April 2014 Master of Arts Learning: Grounded and Growing Colloquium

To all Prescott College staff, faculty and students,
We warmly invite you to join our April 2014 Master of Arts Learning: Grounded and Growing Colloquium that takes place this coming weekend: Friday April 11th through Sunday April 13th. There are many elements of the packed three day event that we know you will enjoy. So, we are attaching the full schedule of the event to this email and highlighting some of our topics below. We have many graduate students giving their thesis and qualifying presentations and many invited faculty members presenting from the fields of Environmental Studies, Education, Adventure Education and the Humanities and Counseling. Please lookbelow for the event’s general highlights and then look to this page on the website for the details so you can best plan your participation. You are welcome at any point during the weekend except, (we apologize in advance) for the meals that are exclusive to our masters program students.

Friday 8:10 to 10:20 am (student presentations: including Rainwater Harvesting, Project-Based Learning, Community Art, School-based Recycling, Social Change through storytelling, Living Green, Power of Education, Expressive Arts Curricula, Forest Resilience, Color in Environmental Education, and much more. )
Friday 1:00 to 5:00 pm (faculty presentations: Environmental Art, Relapse Prevention, Creating awareness through art and more)
Friday 3:30 – 5:00 pm (community service project: Watson Woods)
Saturday 7:00 – 8:00 am (morning wellness)
Saturday 8:00 am – 12:00 pm (faculty presentations: earth day, funding research, graduate research skills, program administration in AE, Counseling theory, Art projects, Brain research in AE, Critical thinking, Positive psychology in practice, Use of Ref Works and more.)
Saturday 12:00 – 1:00 pm: (Open house for prospective students)
Saturday 1:00 – 4:00 pm: (Student and Faculty Presentations: Emotionally-focused therapy, Sustainability Education, Need-Based Education, Safety in AE, Food Justice, Self-Compassion in Counseling, Rainwater Harvesting, Females in Math Education, Sustainability of Money, Permaculture and Ecofeminism, Play Space for Children, Creative Curricular Design, Avalanche Hazards, Feminist Narratives, Library Resources, Social Incubators for Social Change, Rhythm Ecology, and more)
Saturday 4:00 – 6:00 pm: Keynote Address: Ed Grumbine: Problems and Solutions from China: Cross-Cultural Connections for Social and Ecological Change
Saturday 7:00 to 9:00 pm: Dances of Universal Peace
Sunday 8:30 – 10:00 am: Keynote Workshop: Accessing Information about China for Social and Ecological Change
Sunday 8:30 – 11:30 am: (Student and Faculty Presentations: Learning through Movement, Spirituality in the Field, Goals beyond Graduation, Mindfullness Walking, Body: home to wisdom, Restoration Potential in Glen Canyon, Organizational Tricks for Grad Students, Equine-Assisted Mental Health and much much more extending for through Monday late morning.)
